With the summer just around the corner, parents are scrambling to find ways to occupy their kids throughout the extended break. If you would prefer to put this time to good use – and avoid the inevitable requests for lifts to the mall or money for amusements – you may want to consider the various academic programs iCademy Middle East has on offer.

Recover and excel with a full semester of study in just four weeks

iCademy Middle East offers a unique summer school program for kids who have fallen behind in their studies throughout the academic year and need to get back on track, or for ambitious kids who want to get a jump start on their credits, even try some new electives , so that they can start the next academic year in a strong position. Available to anyone, from any US curriculum school, this four-week program condenses an entire semester of subject-specific teaching into four intensive weeks of academic study.

Fully teacher-supported, and provided by the award winning K12 system, students can participate in these courses at our learning center in Dubai Knowledge Park or take the entire course online. The latter option gives the added flexibility of being able to participate anywhere in the world, allowing students who are normally returning home or away on vacation during the summer break to still have the means to maintain their studies.

This academic recovery and acceleration program is accredited by the  New England Association of Schools and Colleges  ( NEASC ) , with more than 220 courses available for high-school kids. These are the same high-quality courses offered during the school year, but each course has been condensed to four weeks (20 instructional days).

Ideally, a single subject would be preferred as students will be expected to commit four to five hours a day for each summer course. However, iCademy Middle East can help tailor a schedule for children wishing to take two subjects over this time period, should the need arise. Students can earn up to two credits.

There are four summer start dates for these courses, with some available throughout, and others having only one entry date. Diverse and exciting applied study with the online Career and Technical Education certificate (CTE) program

The CTE program available through iCademy Middle East is unique in the region. With an emphasis on occupational experience, the subjects made available through the program are industry specific and can provide unique insight into particular areas of study. The programs allow high-school kids, pre or post-graduation, to try out subjects in an applied and focused fashion. Perfect to participate in over the summer vacation or even as part of an after-school activity, these courses have a strong core of academics and provide cutting-edge technical expertise that gives the opportunity to move into a variety of career areas.

The CTE program is a great way for young adults who are unsure of their next steps after high school to investigate the professional world, while attaining qualifications that will stand them in excellent stead as they prepare for either tertiary study, or the world of work. . That said, CTE also offers a range of courses to middle-school students seeking the opportunity to broaden their horizons or narrow the choice for a future academic path.

There are 78 CTE courses available, with a varied choice of subjects including Introduction to Agriscience, Criminology, Gothic Literature, Hospitality, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Law, and 3D Modeling to name just a few. All are available online and fully accredited.

CTE courses are typically one semester long and are available year-round. They are a valuable addition to the K12 program during the school year and also a simple and effective way to use the summer holiday for further studies and broad horizons, while earning academic credit.
