Bringing Our Community Together – Sports Day 2018
Because of the unique nature of the iCademy Middle East model, our parents and students have the freedom to explore their passions and hobbies without falling behind on their academic study, safe in the knowledge that the education they are receiving is of the highest, award-winning standard.
But perhaps one of the principal concerns we regularly hear from prospective parents is the fear that home-schooling may isolate their children, depriving them of opportunities to socialise with kids their own age.
We wholeheartedly agree that our students should be given every chance to interact with their peers both inside and outside the learning environment, which is why we strive to create opportunities throughout the year for students from our blended learning centre, special educational needs department (iCad plus), and home-schooling systems to come together as part of the wider iCademy Middle East community.
We have one such event coming up in February – our annual sports day. This is one of our favourite days of the year and a perfect opportunity to bring everybody together to have fun, exercise, and play a little. We hope that the events we put on as a whole school provide the opportunity to get to know one another and build relationships, friendships, and support systems.
We believe in the importance of sport as it develops a sense of friendliness among the children and builds their team spirit. It helps children to develop mental and physical toughness and allows them the opportunity to grow. School sports day is also a chance to enjoy a day in the beautiful weather, but sports day for children in primary school has been proven to enhance mental and physical development as well as social skills and even improvements in academic performance – all things we believe it is our duty to support as best we can.
Sports day provides an environment for friendly competition, teaches kids how to cope with success and failures, how to abide by rules, work as a team, and how to play fair and respect others – all of which are truly important to childhood development. But we also like to use the occasion to just let the kids be kids, to play, and have fun together!
Our great wish is that all of you will join the iCademy Middle East family for our annual sports day.
It will be held at Umm Sequim Park on 22 February at 9am to 12pm.
We really hope we will see you there.
